Hi All - I'm calling on the gearbox experts because I fear that this weekend the gearbox of my Scrambler is going to have to come out. But I'm hoping someone will be able to give me an idea of where to start looking for the problem. Series 11 Box, with the conventional shift pattern - 1-up, N, 2, 3, 4 down. Problem I am experiencing is 3rd and 4th gear will sometimes not be able to be selected. First is perfect (in fact its probably the best of all the Velos we own - nice and quiet with a lovely click), down to second is fine, but after that it won't select third or fourth, unless you put upward pressure slightly on the gear lever (as if changing up), after which it then allows you to select 3rd. The same trick needs to be done to select 4th. With the bike on a center stand the selector action is a little recalcitrant, but does select all gears. But on the road, the 3rd, 4th gear problem persists. I was hoping it would loosen up a bit and the problem would disappear, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Keep in mind that I do not know the history of the gearbox (I built it up out of parts I found) so it could literally be anything - that's why I'm hoping someone else might have encountered this problem before and hopefully solved it... ...
